Press release

Robert MacIntyre, Justin Rose and Adam Scott are the latest stars confirmed for this year’s BMW PGA Championship when the Rolex Series event returns to Wentworth Club from September 9-14.

The trio join defending champion Billy Horschel, five-time Major Champion and career Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy and European Ryder Cup stars Ludvig Åberg, Tommy Fleetwood and Shane Lowry in the field for the prestigious event held on the West Course at Wentworth.

Former World Number One and Major Champion Rose will be making his 20th appearance in the historic event, 24 years after making his debut in 2001. The Englishman, who won the U.S. Open at Merion in 2013, is a two-time BMW PGA Championship runner-up.

Like Rose, Scott is also a former World Number One and Major Champion after winning the Masters Tournament in 2013. The Australian has ten further victories on the DP World Tour and 13 additional wins on the PGA TOUR.

MacIntyre is this week defending his RBC Canadian Open title on the PGA TOUR, the first of two victories in the 2024 season. He then claimed a famous Rolex Series win on home soil at the Genesis Scottish Open, holding off the challenge of Scott for his third DP World Tour success.

Rose and MacIntyre formed a winning partnership at the 2023 Ryder Cup, winning one and a half points from two matches as they were paired together in the two fourball sessions at Marco Simone.

“I’m very excited for this landmark appearance at the BMW PGA Championship, I can’t believe it will be my 20th start in the event,” said Rose. “We have seen it go from strength to strength over the years and it really is a highlight of our season. There’s no better feeling than playing in front of a home crowd, so I’m really looking forward to September.”

Scott, who made his 95th consecutive start in a Major at last month’s US PGA Championship, will be making his tenth appearance at the BMW PGA Championship later this year.

“The BMW PGA Championship has really grown in stature over the years and there’s always a great atmosphere,” said Scott. “It’s an event I have enjoyed playing in recent times and it’ll be great to tee it up in front of the crowds at Wentworth again.”

MacIntyre recorded his best finish at the BMW PGA Championship last season, finishing in a share of 12th.

“I’ve not missed a BMW PGA Championship since I joined the DP World Tour in 2019 and it’s a tournament I’ve always enjoyed playing in,” said the Scotsman. “It’s one of those events you always want to be a part of and Wentworth is a great test. I’m looking forward to going back in September.”

Tickets are on sale now via this link and fans are urged to secure their place at Wentworth now to avoid disappointment after a record attendance at last year’s event. The BMW PGA Championship Festival of Golf takes place just outside central London, attracting more than 100,000 spectators across the week, with the world class action inside the ropes complemented by live entertainment on the Showstage and an unrivalled atmosphere in the Spectator Village. Headline acts for the Showstage will be announced in the coming weeks.

The star-studded Wednesday Celebrity Pro-Am will bring together global celebrities alongside some of golf’s most famous players in the traditional fun-filled curtain raiser to the main event.

BMW group owners will once again receive preferred parking benefits and there will be a free shuttle service from Virginia Water railway station available to all spectators. Park & Ride services will also be operating from Sunningdale and Ascot.

The Rolex Series event assumes a key position on the 2025 Race to Dubai as part of The Back 9 and will also form part of Luke Donald’s Ryder Cup side’s final preparations ahead of Europe’s showdown in golf’s greatest team contest against the United States at Bethpage Black in New York a fortnight later.
