Tournament Preview

Adrien Saddier is excited to tee it up on home soil as he looks to bring his excellent recent form to this week’s FedEx Open de France.

The 31-year-old now sits third on the Race to Dubai Rankings following a tie for fifth at the Amgen Irish Open and a runner-up finish at the BMW PGA Championship where he lost in a play-off to Sweden’s Alex Noren, but still did enough to reach a career-high 78th in the Official World Golf Ranking and become the highest-ranked Frenchman.

He now arrives at Golf de Saint-Nom-La- Bretèche, the host venue for France’s national open for the first time since 1982, aiming to continue not only his recent form, but also his record in this event having finished inside the top 20 in both 2023 and 2024.

The 2025 Italian Open winner leads a strong French contingent into the FedEx Open de France, including Rolex Series winner Victor Perez, DP World Tour winners David Ravetto, Frederic Lacroix, Julien Guerrier and Martin Couvra, and PGA TOUR winner Matthieu Pavon, who triumphed at the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open.

Englishman Dan Bradbury returns to defend his second DP World Tour title, which he won in impressive fashion in 2024. The 25-year-old broke free from a congested leaderboard with a trio of birdies in his final five holes to secure a one-stroke victory at Le Golf National.

Several PGA TOUR winners are in the field, including World Number 26 Corey Conners, Australia’s Min Woo Lee and New Zealander Ryan Fox, who has this year added his first two PGA TOUR titles to his impressive resumé, which includes four DP World Tour wins.

The DP World Tour and FedEx Cares launched the Eagles for Good initiative for the FedEx Open de France and have committed to plant at least 500 trees on farmland in Noisy-le-Roi, just minutes from Golf de Saint-Nom-La-Bretèche. For every eagle carded during the tournament, 25 additional trees will be planted. The Eagles for Good initiative is in collaboration with the Arbor Day Foundation, a global non-governmental organisation that helps people plant, nurture, and celebrate trees.

 Player quotes

Adrien Saddier:
It feels great. Nice place. Family on my side. Exciting week ahead. I think my game was pretty good this season with some great results like last week, and I just showed what I can do on the big stage, and I just look forward to do another good week here in France.

The course is quite nice. Honestly I’ve never been here. This is my first time. It’s a kind of old-style course with tricky fairway, slopy greens. It’s a very good course. I think it will be a challenging week here. I’m not sure the score will be really low.

Dan Bradbury: Obviously we’re at a different venue this year. So this does feel a little bit different but saw my picture on the last. We played the back nine this morning. That’s pretty cool. It brings back a few memories.

I remember looking at the leaderboard at one point and being like one shot between the top and the bottom of the firm and thinking, right, okay, need to do something here.

It actually reminds me a little bit of Houghton in Joburg where I won my first event. It’s a little bit shorter, a little bit more tree-lined. Smaller, trickier greens. Obviously less water. It’s nice out there. There’s a lot of well-framed holes, especially that back nine. You’re kind of hitting down alleys. It looks really, really nice and it’s in good condition. The greens are good.

Ryan Fox:  I’ve always really enjoyed coming to France. Food, wine, the people are great. The golf courses feel a little bit like home, as well.

I like a golf where, like this week, it feels very old school, tree-lined, tight. And that’s what I grew up on, and I think that’s why I’ve really enjoyed playing golf last year as well.

We go to some good places. Obviously we were in London last week for Wentworth. We’re in Paris this week. Tour goes to St Andrews in a couple of weeks. We go to Madrid. All lots of really cool places around the world.

We play a great variety of golf, as well. You know, we’ve got an old-school style golf course this week, links golf, some parkland, we get some heathland golf courses like Wentworth was.
