Bernd Wiesberger claimed his first DP World Tour title in nearly five years on Sunday, victorious at the 2026 Volvo China Open.
The Austrian, who started his final round one shot off the pace, chased down overnight leader and playing partner Adrian Otaegui to record a three-stroke triumph at Shanghai’s Enhance Anting Golf Club.
A final round of 67 saw him finish 19 under par and secure his ninth win on the DP World Tour, and his first since the 2021 Made in HimmerLand presented by FREJA.
The final group, surging clear of the field early in the afternoon, producing thrilling golf for the local fans, with 2024 champion Otaegui reaching the turn three shots clear.
A scoring burst of three birdies in four holes, including a pivotal chip-in at the tenth, saw Wiesberger reel Otaegui in before taking the outright lead at the 16th, the Spain-born Emirati dropping his second shot in five holes.
Otaegui’s 18th hole proved more damaging, closing with a double bogey to finish at 16 under par, while Wiesberger held his nerve to two-putt for par and seal his return to the winner’s enclosure after a 1792-day absence.
Sweden’s Mikael Lindberg fired a final-round 67 to clinch solo third at 14 under, with South African Shaun Norris one shot further back in fourth.
German Freddy Schott carded the lowest round of Sunday with a 64 to take fifth at 12 under, France’s Tom Vaillant and Englishman Nathan Kimsey shared sixth at 11 under and defending champion Ashun Wu led Alejandro Del Rey, Darius van Driel, Antoine Rozner and Anthony Quayle one shot further back

Bernd Wiesberger: It has been a tough couple of years. It’s been an unbelievable week. I played my heart out today. It wasn’t pretty at times, but I got it done. Adrian is a great competitor and had it under control. Something happened on my 10th hole that I can’t explain, and that’s how golf goes sometimes. I’m super proud of sticking through hard times on the golf course lately. This is for everyone at home and I couldn’t be happier.
I wanted to give him something to think about. I didn’t want him to go to cruise control – he’s such a good guy when he gets, you know, comfortable and takes the lead away. Obviously the putt on 11 and 13, huge. To get it up and down from the back of the green on 12, that was definitely like a sign that I wasn’t going to go away. It came down to just one swing on 16, that got me into a position to take a little bit of control. All in all, this is probably just one hour that was key today.
That was good (standing on the 18th tee). I knew what I was doing. I wanted to stay aggressive. I wanted to, you know, get myself, see the shot. I was driving it to the right today. I just got a new driver from Titleist last week, which worked great today. I just wanted to stay positive on my shots, as I did all week, and there was no reason to back down.
I just know, everyone is watching a home, and is super excited right now. It changes my next couple years as well a little bit. It gets me into the Rolex Series events again, and that’s huge for us out here, and it just makes it a lot easier over the next couple of years – play freely and get myself, hopefully, in the position to fight for number 10.
Ashun Wu: It’s been a good week. All the family is here and my friends here, and all the fans. I’m really happy to come back to defend my title. It’s an amazing week. The weather is good and the course is fantastic. The last three days, I really enjoyed playing golf on my home course. So, hopefully I see you next year.
It’s such a great event. It’s an event I love very much, especially since from my first win on DP World Tour – it was 2015 in Shanghai. Shanghai is my home. It’s such a great tournament in China and I’m very happy to play Volvo China Open.
This tournament has been in China for 31 years, it is incredible. In 31 years, it has improved a lot of Chinese golfers and I think they can play this tournament and they can see how good they are, and they can see which parts they need to improve, playing with such great, great golfers here. It helps a lot of Chinese players, like me, like Haotong (Li) to go into the international tour. So, I think that’s very important for the Chinese players to play well in Volvo China Open, and maybe next year another Chinese player can win the tournament.
