Round four report

Yuto Katsuragawa secured his spot at the Play-Offs after winning his second DP World Tour title at the Genesis Championship at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club.

The 28-year-old carded a level par round of 71 to finish on 13 under and claim his second victory, two years and 180 days after his first at the ISPS HANDA – Championship.

The Japanese carded just one birdie, at the fourth, but minimised blemishes on his scorecard with 16 pars before a closing bogey meant he finished two ahead of French duo Frederic Lacroix and Martin Couvra on 11 under, who also sealed their places in the Play-Offs with a share of second.

Katsuragawa, who entered the week in 106th place on the Race to Dubai Rankings delivered by DP World fighting to keep his playing privileges for the 2027 season, has catapulted to 28th courtesy of his triumph in South Korea and guaranteed his spot in the two Rolex Series events in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

He parred the opening two holes before taking advantage of a free drop following an errant tee-shot at the third with a superb approach to salvage par. That sparked an upturn in form as the Japanese leader then drained a 27-foot birdie putt at the fourth to extend his lead to three at 14 under.

He failed to take advantage of the par-five fifth, but playing partner Casey Jarvis made a birdie to trim the deficit to two shots. Jarvis cut the gap to one with another birdie at the eighth, but the South African double bogeyed the ninth to slip back alongside the chasing pack at 11 under, three behind the leader.

Pars were golden for Katsuragawa as he kept the rest of the field at arm’s length, although Antoine Rozner’s second birdie of the day at the 12th saw him close the gap to two in solo second.

Katsuragawa remained at 14 under, but his lead returned to three shots when Rozner found the water at the 13th and double bogeyed.

Pressure ramped up on Katsuragawa when he got out of position with his first and third shots at the last, but he managed to make bogey and celebrate his first victory in over two years.

Champion Golfer of the Year Ryan Fox was joined at ten under by Rozner, Jarvis, Italian Filippo Celli, Spain’s Jorge Campillo and home duo Sanghun Shin and Si Woo Kim for a share of fourth.

Sean Crocker was among the many players on the bubble who are aiming to finish in the top 100 on the Race to Dubai Rankings delivered by DP World during the final event of the regular season.

The American was three over through his first nine holes on day four putting his Category Ten status on the DP World Tour for 2027 in doubt, before a sensational back nine 29 saw him sign for a three under 68 and claim the coveted 100th spot on the Rankings.

Player Quotes

Yuto Katsuragawa: After the first win, I had such a hard time, struggling with that time, but having the second win, this is definitely the greatest moment of my life.

Yes I was nervous, not just for the victory but also about the seed for the DP World Tour so it was double nervous for me but I think I got through.

I had a good image from the first victory, I just kept that good feeling about it and I came for the second win.

I’m very happy because to play on the DP World Tour is something I need in my life and I am very happy to play in Dubai.

Sean Crocker: Emotional I guess, a lot was going through my mind on that golf course today. I needed to play good, I was obviously hoping to get off to a way better start than I did.

To make that turn at three over par I didn’t know what to expect. I did kind of change it up a bit on that back nine because I’ve been reading the greens by myself all week, I called Stevie (Pettit, caddie) in at the tenth green and that was the first putt we made and I’m a bit of a superstitious person, he was in every putt after that and obviously they started to drop.

That was probably one of the better back nines I’ve ever played with circumstances and everything going on there, it was pretty good.

I just really wanted to give it every chance I could to be able to spend a little time at home to be a dad and a husband, because it’s been a while and I miss the living hell out of them.

It’s not easy being a Tour player, being away from your family especially when you are on the bubble and obviously I’m not the only person, but the last thing you want to do is start a little family and get demoted or lose some of your playing rights so I was obviously thinking about his future and make sure my wife never has to have a job I guess.
