Bondhay Golf Club

Course Details

Stats:

Course Type: Parkland |  Length: 6,871 yrds |  Par: 72

Description:

Set in the heart of the Dukeries and forming part of the Chatsworth Estate, Bondhay Golf Club is the ideal setting for a round of golf, and was described as a “must play” by the National Club Golfer and a “vision of a true championship course“ by the new Masters Champion Danny Willett who spent quite a part of his formative years at this club where he found the quality of course he needed to develop the special skills required for his future actually reducing his handicap from 22 to + 1.

The clubhouse offers a superb place to unwind and socialise with a great range of food and drink whilst overlooking the 18th hole after a round which could have started with the 9 hole Academy Course or a warm up on their driving range. Designed by the legendary Donald Steel in 1990, this course is not one for the high handicappers. The fairways are very tight and any shots left or right of the target are likely to be punished by the trees or one of the many bunkers. The recently redesigned eleventh hole is one of the best on the course, and requires a short iron over water to reach a narrow green guarded by five bunkers, a great test of players' accuracy. Golfers are more likely to pick up points on the opening few holes, as the back nine is extremely tough and bogeys are not uncommon.
