Byeong Hun An will defend his Genesis Championship title later this year with the event moving to Woo Jeong Hills Country Club in Cheonan, from October 23-26.

The 33-year-old claimed an emotional victory on home soil last year, securing his first DP World Tour title in nearly a decade as he defeated compatriot and Presidents Cup teammate Tom Kim in a play-off.

Tickets to see An defend his title at Woo Jeong Hills are on sale now and can be purchased here. Early bird General Admission tickets start from W21,000, with season passes also available from W70,000.

This will mark the first time the DP World Tour has held an event at Woo Jeong Hills, with the venue having previously hosted 21 editions of the Kolon Korea Open on the Asian Tour from 2003 to 2024. The course was designed by Perry O. Dye, son of renowned architect Pete Dye, and opened in 1993. Former winners at Woo Jeong Hills include Vijay Singh, John Daly, Rickie Fowler and YE Yang. Rory McIlroy also competed in the Kolon Korea Open at Woo Jeong Hills in 2013.

The Genesis Championship occupies a prime position on the DP World Tour’s Global Schedule as the final tournament of the Back 9 and the last event of the season before the DP World Tour Play-Offs. The tournament is co-sanctioned with the KPGA TOUR, with a field comprising 90 DP World Tour players and 36 from the KPGA TOUR.

“It was incredibly special winning on home soil once again,” said An, whose last victory in South Korea was at the Shinhan Donghae Open in 2015, the same year he won the BMW PGA Championship and was named Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year on the DP World Tour. “It had been a while since I had the opportunity to play in front of home fans, and it was also great having family members there to see me win.

“It was a real battle with Tom on the final day and in the play-off and I was very proud to get the victory. I’m excited to return to Korea later this year and defend my title.”

Koo Ja-cheol, KPGA Chairman, said: “We are truly excited to welcome back the Genesis Championship at the Woo Jeong Hills Country Club. Korean golf fans have been eagerly anticipating the return of the defending champion Byeong Hun An to compete on home soil. I am confident that players representing both the KPGA Tour and the DP World Tour will deliver a world-class competition at the Woo Jeong Hills, making this year’s Genesis Championship even more successful.”

Jeong-yun Lee, President of Woo Jeong Hills Country Club, said: “We are dedicating our utmost efforts to maintaining the course and facilities at the highest standards to ensure that players can deliver their best performances at the Genesis Championship. As the largest international golf tournament held in Korea, we will spare no effort in supporting the successful staging of the event.”

The Genesis Championship will give DP World Tour members their final opportunity to compete for playing rights for the 2026 Race to Dubai. The Top 110 on the Race to Dubai Rankings at the conclusion of the event will earn their cards for next season.

This tournament builds on the Strategic Alliance between the DP World Tour and KPGA TOUR, which offers a clear pathway for KPGA TOUR players to compete on golf’s Global Tour.

It also continues Genesis’ worldwide involvement in golf, which also includes the Genesis Scottish Open – a co-sanctioned tournament between the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR, of which it has been Title Partner since 2022 – and the Genesis Invitational, which has featured on the PGA TOUR since 2017. Genesis also supports the Presidents Cup, Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and the Genesis Point System for the KPGA TOUR. The brand also became a founding sponsor of the TGL starting 2025.

Genesis recently reaffirmed their commitment to the Scottish Open, extending its Title Partnership of the Rolex Series event until 2030. The brand also recently announced as the Global Official Vehicle of the PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions through 2030.
