Jannik de Bruyn is looking to build on an impressive start to the 2026 Road to Mallorca when he tees it up at the CIRCA Cape Town Open at Royal Cape Golf Club in South Africa this week.

The German tied fifth at last week’s season-opening SDC Open, a result that earnt him a spot in the field in the Mother City this week.

The 26-year-old, who is targeting a swift return to the DP World Tour having lost his playing privileges last year, is excited to have played his way into the field at Africa’s oldest golf club.

“I had it in my mind going down the fairway on 18 last week, because the top five made it into this week’s field,” he said. “I needed a birdie for that, so I was very pleased I made it because I obviously wanted to play.

“I felt very rusty at the start of the week on Thursday, but to be in contention on the back nine on Sunday was nice.

“I’m fully committed to the HotelPlanner Tour this year. It’s the goal to play on the DP World Tour again as soon as possible but I’ll just do my thing and when I play good golf, I will achieve it.

“I think I put in some good work in the winter, and it’s shown quite quickly.”

De Bruyn, who recorded a career-best third place finish in the Italian Open presented by Regione Emilia-Romagna on the DP World Tour last year, is fully aware of the test that Royal Cape Golf Club has to offer and compared the course’s parkland layout to last week’s bushveld challenge in Limpopo.

“It’s definitely different to the one we played last week,” he added. “It’s a bit tighter, with more irons off the tee, so you have to be more precise. The greens are smaller as well.

“It’s a great city and it’s a great week, with great weather and a great golf course.”

De Bruyn joins a strong field in Cape Town that includes SDC Open champion MJ Viljoen from South Africa and DP World Tour winners Tom Lewis from England, South African Haydn Porteous and German Yannik Paul.

The opening round of the CIRCA Cape Town Open gets under way on Thursday at 6:30am local time, with De Bruyn teeing off alongside Viljoen, and American Alex Goff at 12:10pm.
