Four of England’s biggest cricket stars have been confirmed for the Betfred British Masters Celebrity Pro-Am, taking place on Wednesday August 20 at The Belfry.

Former England white ball captain Jos Buttler will be joined by former Test skipper Joe Root, explosive all-rounder Liam Livingstone, and the versatile Sam Curran as they swap the cricket pitch for the iconic Brabazon Course in what promises to be a spectacular day of celebrity golf action.

The quartet brings an impressive collection of cricket achievements to The Belfry, with Root being England’s leading Test run-scorer, Buttler captaining England to T20 World Cup glory in 2022, Livingstone proving himself as one of the most explosive players in white ball cricket, and Curran establishing himself as one of the game’s most exciting young all-rounders.

The quartet will join already announced England Test team captain Ben Stokes, who has written his name into cricketing folklore on several occasions while representing his country.

“I’m really looking forward to getting out on the course at The Belfry,” said Jos Buttler. “It’s such an iconic venue, and the chance to play in the Celebrity Pro-Am ahead of such a prestigious tournament is fantastic. Golf is a great way to relax away from cricket, though I’m not sure how relaxed I’ll be on the day!”

Joe Root added: “The Belfry holds so much history in golf, and to be part of the Celebrity Pro-Am for the British Masters is a real honour. I’ve been working on my golf game, so hopefully I can give a decent account of myself alongside the stars of the DP World Tour.”

The Celebrity Pro-Am has become a highlight of British Masters week, attracting stars from sport, entertainment, and business to compete alongside DP World Tour professionals in a relaxed but competitive atmosphere. The inclusion of four England cricket internationals adds significant star power to the field.

This year’s Betfred British Masters, hosted by six-time Major Champion Sir Nick Faldo, will be the final counting event for European Ryder Cup Qualification, adding extra significance as the race to make captain Luke Donald’s team reaches its conclusion.

The Betfred British Masters has a rich legacy as one of the DP World Tour’s most historic events. This year’s tournament will be the DP World Tour’s 22nd event held at The Belfry, with the Sutton Coldfield venue first hosting the Lada English Golf Classic in 1979, won by the late Seve Ballesteros.

The Tour made a return to The Belfry after a 13-year absence in 2020, with the venue hosting a tournament each year since. The Celebrity Pro-Am provides the perfect curtain-raiser to four days of world-class professional golf, with defending champion Niklas Nørgaard returning to defend his title.
