Round four report

Simon Forsström will take a two-shot lead into the fifth day of Final Stage DP World Tour Qualifying School after he posted a six under par round of 65 on the Lakes Course at INFINITUM.

The Swede carried a two-stroke advantage into day four and he maintained that lead throughout the afternoon to reach 21 under par, two ahead of England’s Daniel Brown who finished with three birdies and an eagle to move into second place on 19 under par.

The 33-year-old carded nine birdies, a bogey and a double bogey to put him in pole position ahead of round five, however he is not getting ahead of himself with 36 holes still left to play of the marathon Final Stage event.

“I’m really pleased with my game today,” he said. “The weather has been great over the last two days and there are so many opportunities to make birdies. I’m taking it one-shot at a time and not taking any risks. If I play a bad shot, I will just take my medicine and try and save the par.

“I will never take anything for granted. I can’t relax or think my card is secured because anything can happen in this game. If I keep the same mindset over the next couple of days then I will be playing on the DP World Tour next year.”

Four-time DP World Tour winner Kiradech Aphibarnrat posted a sensational nine under par round of 62 to climb into a tie for third on 18 under alongside Frenchman Joël Stalter, who was pleased to see some putts drop in Tarragona.

“I played really nicely today and it was great to make some putts,” said Stalter. “My performances have been better over the last couple of months and it’s important for me to keep to my strategy.

“It would be awesome to get my card back this week. That’s the goal coming into the week but the bigger picture for me is to play good golf and start enjoying it again.”

Sweden’s Niklas Lemke occupies fifth on 17 under par, while Irishman Gary Hurley carded a six under 65 to move into sixth on 16 under.

Denmark’s Christoffer Bring carded the low round of the day, a sensational ten under par 61 on the Lakes Course, to move into a tie for tenth on 14 under.

The cut fell at five under par, with 72 players making it through to the final two rounds which will be played on the Lakes Course at INFINITUM where the top 25 and ties will earn DP World Tour playing privileges.Round four scores:
