The G4D Tour will make its debut in France next week, with Golf de Saint-Nom-La-Bretèche set to play host for the G4D Tour @ FedEx Open de France.
The penultimate event of the G4D Tour season will see ten of the world’s best golfers with a disability tee it up in the two-round Net only event taking place from September 15-16.
It marks the final opportunity for those in the field to make sure of their place at Club de Golf Alcanada in October, with the winner in France qualifying for the G4D Tour Series Finale @ Rolex Grand Final.
No fewer than five players will make their first G4D Tour start next week, with England’s Adam Dalton and the Czech Republic’s Tereza Sršňová amongst them.
Dalton, who was born with congenital limb deficiency and lives with underdeveloped arms, no hands and growth-related issues, has made a swift ascent up the Net rankings, and is looking to harness nervous excitement in his first start.
“I really can’t believe it,” he said. “I’d set my personal goal of getting into the top ten players in the Net in the next two years, but I’m here already and I’m pinching myself to make sure it’s real
“I’m very excited about playing in this prestigious tournament but also very nervous as it’s my first G4D Tour event. I’m also really looking forward to meeting the other players.
“At every event I play in I’m always learning more about myself and my game. I’m sure I will learn a lot this week from playing amongst the best players in the world and I can’t wait.”
Sršňová, who lives with phocomelia, a rare congenital condition where immediate parts of the limbs are absent, was the highest ranked woman in the Net rankings when she qualified for France.
The 18-year-old is out to test herself against some of the best in the world next week, whilst having one eye on victory.
“I’m really excited to play on the G4D Tour in France as I’ve heard a lot about it even before I started to play in disabled golf,” she said.
“I was really happy to get the invitation on one of the best courses. It’s just a great opportunity for me.
“I’ve had some good results in the last year. I play much better when there’s great energy and I’m just having fun. I’ve had more time to train, to play on different courses, and I’m learning to play better and think more about strategy.
“It would be great to win, but I know there will be a lot of amazing players there, so I hope to try my best and see how well it goes.”
Mark Clougherty from Ireland, Norwegian Ellen Katherine Larsen and Filip Rataj from the Czech Republic will also make their G4D Tour debuts in France.
All ten players in the field will be targeting a place in the season-ending G4D Tour @ Rolex Grand Final, taking place at Club de Golf Alcanada for the first time and comprising of a ten-player field that will include Gross and Net winners from the 2024-25 G4D Tour season. Six players will compete in the Gross competition, with four in the Net event.
The G4D Tour was launched in 2022 as a partnership between the DP World Tour and EDGA, formally the European Disabled Golf Association. The G4D player pathway aims to cater for everyone with a disability who wants to play golf, and for many, the G4D Tour is seen as the pinnacle of competition with competitors playing on the same course, in the same week, as the leading Tour professionals on the DP World Tour.
Due to the European Tour group’s ongoing financial support, EDGA has been able to raise awareness, confirm eligibility, organise tournaments, and deliver golf development and coach education worldwide.
