Final Round Report
Nicolai von Dellingshausen claimed his maiden DP World Tour title at the Austrian Alpine Open presented by SalzburgerLand, carding a final round 65 to win the title by two strokes.
The German, who went into the final day one stroke behind close friend Marcel Schneider, recorded his third five under par round of the week at Golf Club Gut Altentann as he won his first DP World Tour title on his 110th start.
Starting the day on 14 under par, Von Dellingshausen moved to the top of the leaderboard after back-to-back gains on the third and fourth hole, capitalising on an opening bogey by Schneider. The 32-year-old dropped a shot at the par four sixth, but finished his front nine with a birdie on the eighth and an eagle on the ninth to make the turn in four under.
He then moved to 19 under par after a birdie at the tenth and he parred his way home to win by two from Schneider and last week’s Soudal Open champion Kristoffer Reitan.
Reitan, who last week came from nine strokes back to win his maiden title, carded a ten under par round of 60 to take a share of second place. The Norwegian covered his front nine in just 29 strokes and he had an eagle opportunity at the last for the second round of 59 in DP World Tour history, but his putt narrowly missed on the low side and he tapped in for the first round of 60 on Tour since November 2023.
Denmark’s Jeff Winther carded a one under par round of 69 to finish the week in fourth place, recording his best result so far on the 2025 Race to Dubai.
Player Quotes
Nicolai von Dellingshausen: “ I was hitting good golf shots; I never felt like it would go out of my hands, to be honest. I was hitting the numbers I wanted, the shots I wanted. If things got a little tough here and there, I saved pars, made some nice putts along the way. Just happy overall.
“(After the par on 16) After that I said ‘now it’s mine, there’s nothing going wrong’. I saw the lie in the bunker and I was like ‘oh my god’, I hoped I would get it over the second bunker, then hitting the wedge to 15 feet, whatever it was. Seeing the ball dropping was the momentum I needed for the last two holes.
“It’s very, very satisfying. It’s something I’ve been waiting for for a long, long, long time, to win again. I came close on the DP World Tour twice, on the Challenge Tour as well. To win on the big stage now is just something that’s unbelievably relieving and it makes every step along the way worth it.”
Kristoffer Reitan: “(59) was in the back of my mind, but I was trying to make as many birdies as possible, play the course as well as I could. Once I was in the fairway on the last, that’s when I knew that I had a shot at it. Just a little bit gutted about the putt, that I read that one wrong, but I’ll take 60, that’s fine.”
